- The
Problem: FrontPage Toolbars Crashing

This is a old bug that I thought 2002 had fixed!
I use the FrontPage toolbars very much, I admit it I'm a
GUI junky!!
It takes quite a while to customize them and to remember
where all the buttons are. So when I open FrontPage and
find my toolbars and customizations are gone, I am not a
happy camper!!
Note: If you have Add-ins
installed that use the FrontPage Toolbars, these are the
most likely cause of of the toolbars crashing.
The solution:
Make a backup copy of the file that holds the values!
The file in question is: CmdUI.PRF
And it is normally located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application
Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State
I create a folder called Original in \state\ then after
creating my custom toolbar in FrontPage I copy the
CmdUI.PRF file and paste it into Original.
Next I add this link to my Favorites, so I can find it
easy.
Now when FrontPage's Toolbar Crashes, I close FrontPage,
go to favorites, click on the link, copy the the file
CmdUI.PRF from the original folder and paste it in to
the state folder overwriting the reset one.

The Problem:
Find and Replace
Crashes when using a
subweb.
This has been a problem from day 1 with me. First I
would like to point out that this Find an Replace
feature is Awesome!! The ability to find tags an insert,
queries and to add rules is tremendous indeed. This may
only happen when working on a live server (development
server in my case).
Back to the problem; this doesn't work in a
subweb!
The Solution:
Close all instances of FrontPage.
Open FrontPage.
Open the
subweb directly, don't open the parent web first,
use open dialog box to drill down to the
subweb.
Now run Find and Replace.
-
The Problem: FrontPage's
OPEN button
is grayed out when trying to open a web.
This is not really a
bug, is it?
Anyway, the reason the Open button is grayed out is
there are no files to open. Just use the look in drop
down and drill down until you find something to open.
If you can't find one, create one in Notepad drop it
into your web site. to create an html file just type
this:
<html>
<body>
</body>
</html>
And save it as .htm
